How did Julie get into Bodypainting?
After an economics degree and 12 years in the financial markets, Julie felt a strong craving to discover her true passion and a more purposeful life. She left the corporate world and volunteered in the children’s cancer wards of Sydney’s two largest children’s hospitals.
She set up a free weekly face painting service for the children undergoing chemotherapy and visited the wards dressed as a fairy every Tuesday for over two years. Over this time at the hospitals, she developed a deep love of both painting, and the connection made with people while being painted. She had found her true passion and never looked back.

Bodypainting? ARE PEOPLE NUDE?!
This is our most commonly asked question! And the answer is 100% NO. We paint over clothing, seam-free underwear, latex prosthetics and other modesty garments to ensure all our body art is family friendly, media friendly and respectful to our models.

GLOBAL COLLEGE OF BODY ART
Founded and run by Julie Tattam for over 12 years, the Global College of Body Art (GCBA) is Sydney’s premier training institute in body painting, face painting and special effects for body art. The college has proudly graduated over 600 artists over this time.
Created to meet the growing demand for highly skilled, highly trained bodypainters here in Australia and internationally, we run short workshops and longer certificate courses in body art, beginners and advanced face painting and special effects.
Mentoring and Career Opportunities
At GCBA, we offer more than just knowledge. We know that these days becoming a successful artist takes more than just lots of skill and talent – it takes exposure, opportunity, media attention and connections. Therefore, in addition to our intense, comprehensive training, GCBA students have access to career opportunities which are unavailable anywhere else.
- Certificate of Body Painting (16 weeks part time course)
- Individual Specialist Body Painting Short Courses (eg. realistic clothing, camouflage etc)
- Certificate of Face Painting (2 day course)
- Face Painting Day One: Beginners and Intermediate (one day workshop)
- Face Painting Day Two: Advanced and One Stroke (one day workshop)
- Halloween Special Effects (one evening class)

Contact us to be the first to find out about new upcoming classes.
In pre-COVID times, our classes were all held in our state-of-the-art training facilities in Grays Point (NSW Australia) and Marrickville, with private classes also being held at various art galleries.
In 2022 however, GCBA is going online! We are converting our best-selling classes to online learning, so that they will be available all over the world, 24hrs a day. Users will be able to enjoy self-paced learning in their own home, and all accompanying kits, paints and equipment will be available to purchase to accompany each course.
Do students need to know how to paint already?
No, not at all! Our classes are tailored to cater to all levels of artistic ability, and are suitable for all levels from the absolute beginner to painters who would like to take their art to the next level.
Do students receive a certificate after class?
A “Certificate of Face Painting” is issued after completion of both Day 1 and Day 2.
A “Certificate of Body Painting” is issued after completion of the 6mth Body Painting course.
A “Certificate of Attendance” is available for completing any of our other classes and short courses.
